Rays Fall To Diamondbacks In First Game of Western Swing

The Arizona Diamondbacks (48-32) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (54-28) 8-4 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field.

Taj Bradley (5-4, 4.58) had a rough first inning, allowing five runs (four of them earned) as Arizona took an early 5-4 lead. Though the Rays rallied with four runs in the second inning, they were not able to pull closer then 5-4 and Arizona pulled away to the 8-4 win.

Former Ray Evan Longoria went 2-for-3 with a single and a home run in just the second time he has faced his former team since being traded away from Tampa Bay in 2017.

The Rays and Diamondbacks will meet in the second game of their three game series on Wednesday night. Zach Eflin is scheduled to start for the Rays, against Zach Davies for Arizona. First pitch is scheduled for 9:40 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 9:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
