Rays Open Homestand With Shutout of Brewers

The Tampa Bay Rays (33-13) defeated the Milwaukee Brewers (24-20) 1-0 on Friday night at Tropicana Field. The win opens a ten-game homestand with a win for the Rays, who earned their MLB leading eighth shutout of the season.

Shane McClanahan was brilliant, not allowing a run in a season high seven innings of work. He struck out seven while walking one in the start.

Jason Adam (1-1, 2.84) earned the win by pitching a scoreless eighth, before Pete Fairbanks earned his fourth save of the season working a scoreless ninth.

Francisco Mejia hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Luke Raley in the eighth inning to give the Rays the only run they would need to earn the win.

The Rays and Brewers meet in the second game of the three game series on Saturday night. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for 4:10 PM - Neil Solondz begins pregame coverage at 3:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
