Pete Alonso Leads Mets Past Rays

The New York Mets (21-23) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (32-12) 8-7 on Wednesday night in ten innings. Pete Alonso's three-run home run in the bottom of the tenth gave New York the walk-off win.

The Rays built a lead of 5-2 in the ninth inning before, with two out, Francisco Alvarez hit a three-run homer off Jason Adam to tie the game. The Rays got two more in the tenth inning and led 7-5 before Pete Alonso hit a three-run, walk-off home run off Pete Fairbanks to give New York a 8-7 win.

The Rays and Mets now meet in the rubber game of the series on Thursday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with the Inside Pitch at high noon hosted by Jay Recher and Zac Blobner on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
