Rays Beat Mets In Series Opener

The Tampa Bay Rays (32-11) defeated the New York Mets (20-23) 8-5 on Tuesday night in Queens, New York.

Isaac Paredes hit two home runs off Mets star Justin Verlander (1-2, 4.76) to give the Rays a 6-0 lead off him. Jose Siri also hit a home run, while Harold Ramirez went 3-for-5 with two RBIs to help pace the Rays offense.

Jalen Beeks worked two shutout innings as the opener, before giving way to Yonny Chirinos (2-1, 2.79) who earned the win allowing three earned runs on three hits in four and two-thirds innings of work.

The Rays and Mets meet in the second game of the three game series on Wednesday night. First pitch Wednesday is scheduled for 7:10 PM at Citi Field - Ronnie & T-Kras begin pregame coverage with the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
