Rays Open Series In New York With Win

The Tampa Bay Rays (30-9) defeated the New York Yankees (21-18) 8-2 on Thursday night at Yankee stadium.

Yandy Diaz drove in a run in the fifth to get the scoring started, before Josh Lowe added a three-run double in the sixth. Taylor Walls hit a RBI double in the seventh to make it 5-0, before Josh Lowe made it 7-0 with a two-run blast in the 8th. Isaac Paredes drove in the final run for the Rays to give Tampa Bay an 8-0 lead.

Gleyber Torres drove in a pair in the ninth for New York to make it an 8-2 final margin.

Drew Rasmussen (4-2, 2.62) pitched seven shutout innings in which he allowed two hits while striking out seven and walking two to earn the win.
