Rays Salvage Series Finale In Toronto

The Tampa Bay Rays (14-2) defeated the Toronto Blue Jays (10-6) 8-1 on Sunday afternoon in Ontario. The Rays avoided being swept by Toronto, while picking up their fourteenth win on the young season.

Shane McClanahan (4-0, 1.57) allowed one earned run on four hits while striking out six and walking two in his six innings of work. A bullpen combination of Colin Poche Garrett Cleavinger and Jason Adam kept the Blue Jays off the board in the final three innings.

Josh Lowe hit a two-run single in the top of the first inning to help key a three run frame for Tampa Bay and give the Rays an early lead. Lowe doubled in another run in the fifth before Christian Bethancourt hit a three-run homer later in the fifth inning that turned this game into a blowout. Josh Lowe finished the game 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored.

The Rays now head to Cincinnati for the second city of the road trip and a three-game series against the Reds beginning on Monday night. First pitch Monday night is scheduled for 6:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie & T-Kras hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
