Rays Complete Sweep of Athletics For 9th Straight Win To Begin 2023

The Tampa Bay Rays (9-0) defeated the Oakland As (2-7) 11-0 on Sunday afternoon to sweep the Athletics. The Rays extraordinary start to the 2023 season continues as they are now 9-0 for the first time in franchise history.

Drew Rasmussen was tremendous, allowing just one hit in seven shutout innings that saw him strike out eight and walk one.

After Wander Franco homered in the first to give Tampa Bay an early lead, Brandon Lowe hit a grand slam in the fourth to begin to pull away. Harold Ramirez added a homer in the fifth as part of a 3-for-4 game in which he drove in two and scored three times.

The Rays will remain home this week for a four-game series against the Red Sox beginning on Monday night. First pitch from Tropicana Field is scheduled for 6:40 - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie & T-Kras hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
