The Cleveland Guardians beat the Tampa Bay Rays 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in Game 2 of the Best-of-Three Wild Card Series. The Guardians won the series 2-0 to advance to the ALDS, while the Rays saw their season come to an end.
This game was an epic pitcher's duel that was scoreless through nine innings. The game would remain scoreless until the fifteenth when Oscar Gonzales led off the inning with a walk-off home run to send the Guardians to the ALDS.
The Rays finished the 2022 regular season with a 86-76 record, good enough for the third and final AL Wild Card spot. However, they lost Friday's game 2-1 and Saturday's game 1-0 to be swept from the playoffs as their season comes to an end.
The Guardians now advance to face the Yankees in the Best-of-Five ALDS round.
