Rays Clinch Spot In Playoffs With Win Over Astros

The Tampa Bay Rays (86-71) defeated the Houston Astros (102-55) 7-3 on Friday night in Houston to clinch a spot in the American League playoffs. It is the fourth consecutive year the Rays have made the playoffs, the first time in franchise history they have made the playoffs in four consecutive years.

Yandy Diaz returned to the lineup after dealing with a shoulder injury, and went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored to set the pace. Drew Rasmussen set the pace the Rays, allowing two earned runs on five hits in seven innings that saw him strike out three and walk none.

The Rays and Astros next play in the second game of the series on Saturday night. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for 7:20 PM - Neil Solondz begins pregame coverage at 6:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
