Rays Shut Out By Astros Again

The Houston Astros (98-51) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (82-66) 5-0 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. It is the second consecutive shutout by Houston pitchers over Tampa Bay hitters,

After Jose Altuve got a base hit on the game's first pitch, Kyle Tucker doubled him in for an early Houston lead. Jeremy Pena hit a three-run home run in the third inning that effectively put the game out of reach.

Shane McClanahan (12-6, 2.36) left the game after facing one batter in the fifth inning with left neck tightness. He allowed five earned runs on five hits while striking out three and walking four.

The Rays will now look to avoid being swept by the Astros on Wednesday night. First pitch Wednesday is scheduled for 6:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
