Astros Blank Rays To Open Series

The Houston Astros (97-51) shut out the Houston Astros (82-65) 4-0 on Monday night at Tropicana Field. The loss sent the Rays one full game behind the Toronto Blue Jays (83-64) for the top spot in the AL Wild Card race. Meanwhile, the Astros clinched the AL West with the victory.

After Jose Altuve homered to lead off the game for Houston, the Astros added a three-run sixth inning to put the game out of reach.

Drew Rasmussen (10-6, 2.92) pitched six innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits while striking out three and walking one.

The Rays will look to bounce back in the middle game of the three game series on Tuesday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM - Neil Solondz begins pregame coverage at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
