The Tampa Bay Rays (61-53) defeated the New York Yankees (72-44) 4-0 on Monday night in the Bronx. For New York, i t was their tenth loss in their last twelve games.
Isaac Paredes drove in a run in the fourth inning to get the scoring started for Tampa Bay. This game would be 1-0 going into the ninth inning, before Tampa Bay would take control.
Jose Siri had a RBI single to make it 2-0, before Yandy Diaz came up with a two-run single to make it 4-0. Yandy finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs driven in.
After Jalen Beeks worked two scoreless innings as the opener, he gave way to Ryan Yarbrough. Yarbrough (1-7, 4.55) picked up his first win of the year by pitching four shutout innings in which he allowed just three hits while striking out six and walking none.
The Rays will now look to make it four in a row when they take on the Yankees in the second game of the three game series on Tuesday night.
