Rays Acquire David Peralta From The Diamondbacks

The Tampa Bay Rays made a trade on Saturday afternoon, acquiring outfielder David Peralta from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for minor league catcher Christian Cerda.

Peralta, a 34-year-old lefthanded bat, is in the final season of his contract with Arizona. He signed with the Diamondbacks as a minor league free agent in July 2013, before making his major league debut on June 1st, 2014. Primarily a left fielder, he has accumulated a .283 batting average in nine years in the big leagues with 110 home runs and 468 RBI.

Perhaps his best season in the majors came in 2018, when he hit .293 with 30 HRs and 87 RBIs.
