Kevin Kiermaier and Mike Zunino Officially Ruled Out For Season

Rays outfielder Kevin Kieramier and catcher Mike Zunino both will have season ending surgeries, and will not return in 2022, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.

Both players are in the final guaranteed year of their contract with the Rays, meaning there's a possibility both players tenure with the club is over.

Kevin Kiermaier is the longest tenured Ray on the roster, being drafted by the orginization in the 2010 MLB draft. He made his major league debut with the team in 2013.

Mike Zunino, a Florida Gator product, was traded to the Rays from the Seattle Mariners on November 8, 2018, and has been a part of the teams that made the playoffs in 2019, 2020 and 2021. In addition to being a key member of the 2020 team that played in the World Series, he was also an All-Star in the 2021 season.
