Royals Beat Rays Sunday For Series Win

The Kansas City Royals (38-57) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (52-43) 4-2 on Sunday afternoon in Kansas City. The win gives the Royals a series win over Tampa Bay, which is Kansas City's first series win against an AL-East opponent since June 2021.

The Royals got single runs in the first and second inning to take an early 2-0 lead. The Rays rallied to tie thanks to a solo homer from Yandy Diaz in the third, and a sacrifice fly from Luke Raley in the sixth, to make it 2-2.

Hunter Dozier broke the tie for the Royals, getting a RBI single off Rays reliever Brooks Raley in the seventh inning to make it 3-2. MJ Melendez added some insurance with a RBI double in the eighth that made it 4-2, which would prove to be the final score.

Brooks Rlaey (1-1, 2.90) took the loss for the Rays, while Kris Bubic (2-6, 5.53) picked up the win for Kansas City. Bubic got through seven innings allowing just two Rays runs (both earned) on four hits.
