Rays Draft Four Players In First Day of MLB Draft

On the first night of the MLB Draft on Sunday night, the Tampa Bay Rays drafted four players. Here is a full list of the players drafted.

#29 - 1B Xavier Isaac - East Forsyth (NC) High School
#65 - OF Brock Jones - Stanford University
#70 - SS Chandler Simpson - Georgia Institute of Technology
#71 - OF Ryan Cermak - Illinois State University

With their first round pick, 29th overall, the Rays selected first baseman Xavier Isaac from North Forysth High School in North Carolina. As a high school senior in 2022, he hit .578 (37-for-64) with 12 HR and 26 RBI in 26 games. For his high school career, he hit .445 (73-for-164) with 18 RBI and 56 RBI.

He was a first team All-American selection by MaxPreps, Collegiate Baseball and Prep Baseball Report and was a second-team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association. He also was ranked by Baseball America as the #92 prospect in the draft.

The Rays also drafted outfielder Brock Jones from Stanford with the 65th pick, shortstop Chandler Simpson from the Georgia Institute of Technology with the 70th pick and outfielder Ryan Cermak from Illinois State University with the 71st pick.

Jones was ranked by Baseball America as the 31st prospect in the draft and by MLB.com as the 33rd prospect in the draft.

Simpson was ranked by Baseball America as the 88th prospect in the draft and by MLB.com as the 123rd prospect in the draft.

Cermak was ranked by Baseball America as the 63rd prospect in the draft and by MLB.com as the 85th prospect in the draft.
