Rays Beat Orioles For Fifth Straight Win

The Tampa Bay Rays (50-40) defeated the Baltimore Orioles (45-45) 5-4 on Friday night. The win was the Rays fifth straight win, and snapped a ten-game winning streak for Baltimore.

The Orioles took an early 2-0 lead by Rays newcomer Yu Chang helped Tampa Bay answered. He hit RBI doubles in the fourth and sixth to tie the game 2-2. The Rays scored three more runs in the sixth - including a bizarre homer from Christian Bethancourt that was called a home run on review, after initially being called a foul ball that was hit to the left field foul pole.

Luis Patiño returned to the Rays from the IL and pitched three and one-third innings in which he allowed two earned runs on four hits while striking out none and walking one. Matt Wisler (3-3, 2.45) picked up the win out of the bullpen, while Brooks Raley picked up his sixth save.

Tampa Bay now looks to make it six in a row on Saturday afternoon against the Orioles First pitch from Tropicana Field is scheduled for 4:10 PM - Neil Solondz begins pregame coverage at 3:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
