Rays Bounce Back To Win Over Yankees

The Tampa Bay Rays (37-31) defeated the New York Yankees (50-18) 5-4 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. Isaac Paredes became the sixth player in Rays history to hit three home runs in a game in the win.

The Rays took a 2-0 lead with first inning homers from Paredes and Harold Ramirez, before the Yankees tied the game with a two-run single from DJ LeMahieu in the second inning. Paredes hit a solo shot in the third and a two-run blast in the fifth to give the Rays a 5-2 lead. Marwin Gonzales homered in the ninth from New York to pull the Yankees within 5-4, but that would be as close as New York would get.

Shawn Armstrong (1-1, 5.19) was the first man out of the Rays bullpen and picked up the victory. Colin Poche picked up his fifth save of the season after working the ninth inning.

The Rays and Yankees will meet in the rubber game of the three game series on Wednesday evening. First pitch from Tropicana Field is scheduled for 7:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher hosting the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
