Rays Drop Series To Orioles, Finish 2-7 On Road Trip

The Baltimore Orioles (30-38) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (36-30) 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Camden Yards in Baltimore. The win gives the Orioles the win in the three game series against Tampa Bay, and the Rays finish the road trip with a 2-7 record.

The Orioles built a 2-0 lead thanks to a first inning solo homer from Anthony Santander, and a RBI double from Cedric Mullins in the third inning. The Rays got one back on a RBI double from Taylor Walls that was misplayed by center fielder Cedric Mullens, which allowed Walls to advance to third.

Seven Orioles pitchers combined to keep the Rays bats guessing more of the night. Corey Kluber (3-4, 3.46) pitched well, allowing only two earned runs on four hits in six innings while striking out six and walking one. Unfortunately, he took the loss as the Rays bats were unable to capitalize on his pitching performance.

The Rays now return home for another big AL-East divisional matchup against the Yankees. The Rays and Yankees begin the three game series on Monday night at Tropicana Field - first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM. Pregame coverage begins with the Inside Pitch hosted by Jay Recher at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
