The Tampa Bay Rays (33-23) defeated the St. Louis Cardinals (32-26) 11-3 on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field. The win is the second in a row for Tampa Bay, and gives them a series win over St. Louis in the three-game interleague series.
The Rays took the lead early, scoring three in the first, one in the second and one in the third for a 5-0 lead. The Cardinals answered with one in the fourth and two in the sixth to pull within 5-3, but the Rays answered with three in the bottom of the sixth and three more in the seventh to take complete control of this game.
Randy Arozarena went 3-for-5 with four RBIs to set the pace. Vidal Brujan also had a great night, going 2-for-5 while driving in three.
Corey Kluber (3-2, 3.88) picked up the win, pitching five innings in which he allowed three earned runs on six hits while striking out five and walking one.
The Rays now look to sweep the Cardinals in the series finale on Thursday afternoon. First pitch Thursday is scheduled for 1:10 PM from Tropicana Field - pregame coverage begins with the Inside Pitch hosted by Aaron Jacobson at high noon on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
