Rays Earn Series Split With Rangers

The Tampa Bay Rays (30-21) defeated the Texas Rangers (24-26) 3-1 on Thursday afternoon in Arlington, Texas.

The Rays got a RBI ground rule double from Vidal Brujan in the second, then added two runs in the third to build a 3-0 lead. Marcus Semien homered in the sixth to pull within 3-1, but that would be as close as Texas would get.

Corey Kluber (2-2, 3.73) pitched six innings in which he allowed one earned run on four hits while striking out four and walking one. Jason Adam, Brooks Raley, Shawn Armstrong, J.P. Feyereisen and Ryan Thompson all combined to keep Texas off the board for the final three innings. For Thompson, he worked the ninth to pick up his third save of the season.

The Rays now return home for a six game homestand which begins on Friday night when they host the White Sox. First pitch from Tropicana Field is scheduled for 7:10 PM - Neil Solondz begins pregame coverage at 6:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
