Reid Detmers No-Hits The Rays

The Los Angeles Angels (21-11) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (18-13) 12-0 on Tuesday night in Anaheim. Rookie Reid Detmer threw a no-hitter against the Rays to get the win.

Detmer (2-1, 3.77) threw 108 pitches to get the win, striking out only two. The only Rays baserunners to reach were a Taylor Walls walk in the sixth inning, and Brett Phillips reaching base on an error by Angels first baseman Jared Walsh in the seventh inning.

On offense, the Angels scored early and often, getting two runs in the first, three in the second and three in the third to take complete command of this game. Mike Trout homered in the second inning, and again in the eighth inning, to lead the way for the Angels.

The Rays will look to bounce back and salvage the finale in Anaheim on Wednesday night. First pitch Wednesday is scheduled for 7:07 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher hosting the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
