The Seattle Mariners (11-6) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (9-8) 8-4 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field.
Seattle blew the game open with a seven run fourth inning before adding an eighth run in the sixth. The Rays got four runs back in the eighth when Rene Pinto and Wander Franco each hit two home runs.
Josh Fleming (2-2, 4.50) picked up the loss - though he allowed seven runs in the fourth, none of them were earned as Seattle took advantage of three Rays errors in the game.
The Rays will look to bounce back when they meet in game two of the three game series on Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher hosting the Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
