The Tampa Bay Rays (98-61) fell to the Houston Astros (93-66) 3-2 on Thursday night in Houston. With the win, the Astros clinch the American League West crown, while the Rays remain at 98 wins heading into the final weekend of the season.
The Astros got all the offense they would need when Carlos Correa hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning. Though Brandon Lowe hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning, that would be as close as the Rays would get in falling 3-2.
Wander Franco's remarkable on-base streak ended on Thursday night at 43 consecutive games, finishing tied with Frank Robinson for the most ever for a player 20 or younger.
The Rays now head to the Bronx to take on the Yankees on Friday night. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 7:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
