Astros Rally Past Rays In 9th

The Houston Astros (92-65) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (97-60) 4-3 on Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park in Houston. The Rays magic number to clinch the best record in the American League remains at one, while the Astros now have a magic number of one to clinch the American League West.

After Yandy Diaz hit a two run homer in the first inning to give the Rays the early lead, the Astros rallied back late. Solo home runs from Alex Bregman in the sixth, and Jose Altuve in the eighth, would tie the game. Randy Arozarena hit a solo homer in the top of the ninth to give the Rays the lead back, but in the bottom of the ninth J.T. Chargois allowed back to back bases loaded walks to Chas McCormick and Jason Castro and the Astros got a 4-3 win.

Michael Wacha pitched five no-hit innings in getting the start, striking out six and walking two. Josh Fleming (10-7, 5.10) took the loss out of the bullpen, allowing the runs to reach that would come home to score on the bases loaded walks.

The Rays look to bounce back and even the three game series on Wednesday night. First pitch from Houston Wednesday is scheduled for 8:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and the Inside Pitch at 7:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
