Rays Come Back For Huge Win Over Tigers In Extra Innings

The Tampa Bay Rays (92-56) rallied to a tremendous 7-4 win over the Detroit Tigers (70-78) on Friday night at Tropicana Field.

The Tigers built a 4-1 lead in the third inning and for the longest time it appeared that score would hold. However, the Rays were able to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, thanks to a two-run single from Yandy Diaz and a sacrifice fly from Randy Arozerena. After keeping Detroit off the board in the top of the tenth, the Rays got two runners on before Brett Phillips hit the walk-off, three-run home run to lift the Rays to a 7-4 win.

Luis Patino got the start for the Rays, pitching six innings in which he allowed four earned runs. Andrew Kittredge (9-3, 1.55) picked up the win after pitching a scoreless top of the tenth inning.

The Rays and Tigers now meet in the third game of their four game series on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with This Week In Rays Baseball hosted by Neil Solondz on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
