Rays Even Series With Win Over Tigers

The Tampa Bay Rays (89-53) defeated the Detroit Tigers (67-76) 7-2 on Saturday evening in Detroit.

The Rays got triples from Joey Wendle and Kevin Kiermaier in the second inning to help power a three run frame. In the fourth inning Tampa Bay added two more, thanks to a homer from Wendle and a RBI single from Brandon Lowe, and from there the Rays never looked back.

Chris Archer got the start and allowed one earned run on two hits in four innings while striking out two and walking one. Dietrich Enns (1-0, 3.38) picked up the win after pitching four hitless innings out of the bullpen, striking out six and walking none.

The Rays will now look to win the series with the Tigers on Sunday afternoon. First pitch Wednesday is scheduled for 12:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Neil Solondz hosting This Week In Rays Baseball at 10:30 AM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
