Mariners Continue Success Over Rays

The Seattle Mariners (58-50) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (64-43) 4-2 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. It is the second consecutive loss for the Rays, who have now lost all six games they have played against Seattle this year.

Randy Arozarena led off the game with a home run for the Rays, but Seattle answered back in the second to tie it 1-1. Then the Mariners got homers from Abrham Toro and Jarred Kelenic in the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead. Though the Rays got a run back in the fourth inning, they would go onto lose the contest 4-2.

Luis Patino (2-3, 4.42) took the loss after allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out three and walking two. Yusei Kikuchi got the win for Seattle, pitching six innings in which he allowed two runs, one of them earned, on six hits while striking out five and walking two.

The Rays now look to avoid being swept by Seattle on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch from Tropicana Field is scheduled for 1:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and the Inside Pitch at high noon on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
