Rays Return From All-Star Break With Extra Inning Win Over Braves

The Tampa Bay Rays (54-37) defeated the Atlanta Braves (44-46) 7-6 in ten innings on Friday night.

It was a back and forth game throughout, and Atlanta took a 6-4 lead in the seventh inning. The Rays answered with RBIs from Austin Meadows and Joey Wendle in the eighth to tie it 6-6. Then in the tenth inning, Austin Meadows drove in the go-ahead run that gave the Rays a 7-6 win.

Austin Meadows finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBIs in a return to Atlanta, where he had dozens of friends and family in attendance.

Matt Wisler (2-3, 3.74) got the win out of the bullpen, while Pete Fairbanks picked up his fourth save.

The Rays and Braves now meet in the second game of their three game series on Saturday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 - pregame coverage begins with Neil Solondz at 6:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
