Rays Knock Off Blue Jays Saturday For Sixth Straight Win

The Tampa Bay Rays (53-36) defeated the Toronto Blue Jays (44-42) 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at Tropicana Field. The win gives the Rays a series win over the Blue Jays and their sixth consecutive win overall.

Brandon Lowe hit two home runs in this game, including on the first pitch he saw to lead off the game in the bottom of the first inning. After Toronto took a 2-1 lead on a Marcus Semien two-run shot in the top of the third, the Rays answered in the bottom of the third. Mike Zunino hit a solo shot to tie the game, then Brandon Lowe added a two run bomb for his second of the game that gave the Rays a 4-2 lead.

The Rays added another run in the eighth inning off a Randy Arozarena RBI single to make it 5-2, which would turn into the final score. Ryan Yarbrough (6-3, 4.30) got the win after pitching five innings in which he allowed two earned runs on five hits while striking out four and walking two. Diego Castillo picked up his thirteenth save after working scoreless ninth inning.

The Rays now look to sweep the Blue Jays out of Tropicana Field on Sunday afternoon. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 1:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Neil Solondz and This Week In Rays Baseball at 11:30 AM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
