Rays Rout Angels For Fourth Straight Win

The Tampa Bay Rays (47-31) defeated the Los Angeles Angels (36-40) 13-3 on Saturday afternoon at Tropicana Field. The win gives the Rays four in a row and secures a series win over the Angels in the three game weekend series.

After the Rays got a two-run home run from Manuel Margot in the second inning, the Angels answered with a three-run frame in the third to take a 3-2 lead. The Rays began to take control in the fourth inning - putting up a four spot - before adding runs in the fifth and sixth to take an 8-3 lead. Tampa Bay added a five spot in the seventh inning to turn the game into a13-3 blowout.

Every Ray in the starting lineup came up with a hit with the exception of rookie Wander Franco, who was still able to drive in a run with a bases loaded walk. Shane McClanahan (3-2, 4.09) allowed three earned runs on four hits in six inning while striking out seven and walking two in the winning effort.

The Rays now will attempt to sweep the Angels on Sunday afternoon. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 1:10 PM - pregame coverage begins at 11:30 AM with This Week In Rays Baseball on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
