Rays Win Third Straight, Knock Off Angels 4-3 Friday Night

The Tampa Bay Rays (46-31) defeated the Los Angeles Angels (36-39) 4-3 on Friday night at Tropicana Field.

The Angels got the scoring started in the first inning, with solo shots from Shohei Ohtani and Anthony Rendon. The Rays answered with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, thanks in part to some Angels defensive miscues. Los Angeles tied the game in the third inning, but the Rays got the lead back for good in the seventh inning when Brandon Lowe got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 4-3.

Andrew Kittridege got the start for Tampa Bay, allowing two earned runs in his two innings of work. Colin McHugh (2-1, 2.05) got the win out of the bullpen, while Diego Castillo picked up his twelth save.

The Rays and Angels meet in game two of their three game series on Saturday - first pitch is scheduled for 4:10 PM, with pregame coverage beginning at 3:30 on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
