Yankees Take Second Straight From Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays (35-22) fell to the New York Yankees (31-25) 4-3 on Wednesday night in New York.

The Yankees got the scoring started with a two run homer from Gio Urshela in the first inning. After the Rays got on the board in the fourth, Clint Frazier drove in two in the bottom of the fourth to make it 4-1. Though the Rays got RBIs from Yandy Diaz in the fifth and Ji-Man Choi in the seventh, that would be as close as Tampa Bay got and New York held on to the win.

Shane McClanahan (2-1, 4.11) struck out six in just three and a third innings of work, allowing all four Yankees runs in taking the loss. Jordan Montgomery (3-1, 3.92) allowed three runs, but only one of them earned, on five hits while striking out six and walking two in six and a third innings of work.

The Rays now try to salvage the split against the Yankees on Thursday afternoon in the Bronx. First pitch Thursday is scheduled for 1:05 PM - pregame coverage begins with Zac Blobner and the Inside Pitch at high noon on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
