Rays Get Walk Off Win In Extras Over Royals

The Tampa Bay Rays (31-20) defeated the Kansas City Royals (23-24) 2-1 in ten innings at Tropicana Field on Wednesday night.

Mike Zunino drove in a run in the fourth inning, and it looked like that might be enough offense for the Rays to get the win. However, Andrew Benintendi tied the game with a home run in the top of the ninth inning to force extras. In the tenth inning Manuel Margot walked off when he drove in Kevin Kiermaier to lift the Rays to a victory.

Tyler Glasnow was sensational for the Rays, pitching eight shutout innings in which he allowed three hits while striking out eleven and walking two. J.J. Feyereisen (1-2, 3.09) blew the save with the home run in the ninth inning, but after pitching a shutout tenth inning picked up the victory.

The Rays will now look to win the series with the Royals when the two teams meet on Thursday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 3:10 PM Thursday from Tropicana Field - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and the Inside Pitch at 2 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
