Royals Ends Rays Win Streak At Eleven

The Tampa Bay Rays (30-20) fell to the Kansas City Royals (23-23) 2-1 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. The loss ends the Rays win streak at eleven consecutive games.

Yandy Diaz drove in a run in the third inning, but that would turn out to be the only offense Tampa Bay would get on the night. Kansas City starter Brad Keller (4-4, 5.72) was excellent, allowing just the one run on four hits while striking out seven and walking four in seven innings of work.

Rich Hill (3-2, 3.63) put his team in position to win, but it wasn't enough. He finished with eight innings pitched in which he allowed two earned runs on six hits while striking out thirteen and walking none.

The Rays and Royals will now meet in the second game of the three game series on Wednesday evening. First pitch Wednesday is scheduled for 7:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and the Inside Pitch at 6 on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
