The Tampa Bay Rays (28-19) defeated the Toronto Blue Jays (23-21) 3-1 on Saturday night in Dunedin. The win is the ninth consecutive win for the Rays.
After the Blue Jays got on the board in the first inning with a Teoscar Hernandez double, Mike Zunino hit a home run in the top of the fifth to tie the game 1-1. In the eighth Manuel Margot broke the tie with an RBI single - a wild pitch from Trent Thornton in the top of the ninth allowed the newest Ray Taylor Walls to score to make it 3-1.
Shane McClanahan allowed only one earned run on four hits in five innings of work while striking out four and walking two. Andrew Kittredge (5-0, 1.23) picked up the win out of the bullpen while Diego Castillo saved his eighth game of the season.
The Rays now look to make it ten wins in a row on Sunday afternoon. First pitch Sunday is scheduled for 1:07 PM - pregame coverage begins with Neil Solondz and This Week In Rays Baseball at 11:30 AM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
