Rays Extend Win Streak to 7 With 10-1 Thrashing of Orioles

The Tampa Bay Rays extended their winning streak to seven games, and the offense is putting opposing teams on warning, with a dominating 10-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday afternoon.

Randy Arozarena once again was the offensive star of the game, going 4-for-6 with four RBIs and three runs scored, including a three-run homer in the second inning that gave the Rays a 4-0 lead.

Rich Hill continued his impressive pitching for the Rays this season, allowing only a run on two hits through six innings with four strikeouts and four walks.

Joey Wendle started off the scoring for the Rays in the second inning with a solo homer, his fourth, off Orioles starter and loser Dean Kremer. He added another homer off position player Stevie Wilkerson on a slow curve in the ninth to cap his four-hit, two-homer day.

The Rays broke open the game in the late innings, adding two in the sixth and three in the seventh off the beleaguered Baltimore bullpen. Austin Meadows also added three hits, as the offense accounted for 18 hits.

Up next for Tampa Bay is the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin on Friday. Coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. as Jay Recher leads things off with the Inside Pitch, and Neil Solondz follows with the pregame show at 7 here on 95.3 WDAE. First pitch is scheduled for 7:37 p.m.
