Rays Bats Stay Quiet At Home, Drop Series Opener To Yankees

The Tampa Bay Rays (19-18) fell to the New York Yankees (19-16) 3-1 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field.

The Yankees got a first inning home run from Aaron Judge and a seventh inning home run from Gary Sanchez in the win. They also got a run in the third inning when DJ LeMahieu scored on a Mike Zunino passed ball.

Zunino provided all the offense the Rays could get off Yankees pitcher Jordan Montgomery (2-1, 3.96) when he blasted a tape measure home run in the third inning. Luis Patino (1-1, 1.54) took the loss after allowing two earned runs, one of them earned, on three hits in four innings of work while striking out three and walking one.

The Rays look to bounce back in game two of the three game series on Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 and pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and the Inside Pitch at 6 on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
