Lowe Blast Leads Rays Past Angels Wednesday Night

The Tampa Bay Rays (17-15) defeated the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (13-16) 3-1 on Wednesday night in Anaheim.

The Angels threatened with base runners all night, but the only run they were able to get was when Ryan Yarbrough allowed a bases loaded walk to Jared Walsh in the third inning. 1-0 would be the score until the seventh inning, when Brandon Lowe came through with a three-run bomb that turned the game around.

Shohei Ohani was effective for the Angels, pitching five innings of shutout baseball before being chased due to pitch count. Ryan Yarbrough (2-3, 4.5) got the win starting behind opener Andrew Kittredge. Yarbrough allowed just one earned run on five hits in four innings of work while striking out three and walking two.

The Rays now look to sweep a four game series from the Angles on Thursday night. First pitch from Anaheim is scheduled for 9:38 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and the Inside Pitch at 8:30 on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
