Rays Back Over .500 With Third Straight Win

The Tampa Bay Rays (16-15) defeated the Los Angeles Angels (13-15) 8-3 on Tuesday night. The win is the third straight for Tampa Bay and pulls the team back above the .500 mark.

This was a close game for much for the contest. Brandon Lowe singled in the first to make it 1-0, then Austin Meadows drove in a run in the fifth to make it 2-0. Kevin Kiermaier doubled in the sixth to make it 4-0 and start to pull away. In the eighth inning Austin Meadows came through with a huge three-run home run that put the game away

Shane McClanahan pitched four shutout innings to start the game, while Luis Patino (1-0, 1.17) picked up the win out of the bullpen after allowing one run in three innings pitched while striking out five and walking none. Former Ray Alex Cobb (1-2, 5.48) took the loss for the Angels.

The Rays and Angels now meet in game three of their four game series on Wednesday night - first pitch is scheduled for 9:38 PM. Pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and the Inside Pitch at 8:30 on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
