Get Tampa Bay Rays News and Scores

Rays Bats Continue To Struggle, Drop Series to Astros

The Tampa Bay Rays (13-15) fell to the Houston Astros (15-12) 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Trop. The win clinches the three game series for the Astros and is the third consecutive loss for Tampa Bay.

The Astros struck early as Alex Bregan and Yuri Gurriel each came through with RBI hits to give Houston a 3-0 lead. That would remain the score until the ninth, when the Rays got a run back when Yandy Diaz drove in a run, but the Astros held for the win.

Josh Fleming (1-3, 2.18) settled down after the first inning, allowing three earned runs on three hits. He also struck out four while walking five in the loss.

The Rays look to salvage the series finale on Sunday afternoon - first pitch is scheduled for 1:10, with pregame coverage beginning with This Week In Rays Baseball at 11:30 on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
