The Tampa Bay Rays (5-6) were defeated by the Texas Rangers (4-7) 8-3 on Tuesday night.
After the Rangers took an early lead in the first inning, the Rays got RBI hits from Joey Wendle and Yandy Diaz in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead. However, the Rangers answered with a four-run fourth inning and never looked back. They added a run in the sixth and two in the seventh to turn this game into a blowout.
Ryan Yarbrough (0-2, 6.48) took the loss after giving up six runs, all of them earned, on ten hits in six innings of work while striking out six and walking one.
The Rays and Rangers are set to meet in game three of the four game series on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM, and pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and the Inside Pitch at 6:00 on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
