Red Sox Complete Sweep of Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays (2-4) fell to the Boston Red Sox (3-3) 9-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The loss gives Boston a sweep over Tampa Bay and sends the Rays home from a six game road trip to start the season with a sub-.500 record.

The Rays struck first in this game when Yoshi Tsutsugo drove in a run in the third inning, but Boston answered with three runs in the fourth and sixth in the fifth to take firm control of this game. The Rays only ther offense came in the ninth inning when Mike Brosseau drove in a run to make it 9-2 before Boston secured the victory.

Ryan Yarbrough (0-1, 5.06) took the loss as he allowed all nine runs, six of them earned, in five innings of work. Former Ray Nathan Eovaldi (1-1, 1.46) picked up the victory allowing just one earned run in seven innings of work.

Tampa Bay now has Thursday off before beginning a three game series with the Yankees at Tropicana Field on Friday afternoon. The home opener for the Rays Friday is scheduled for a first pitch at 3:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Jay Recher and the Inside Pitch at 2 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
