Rays Close Out Season At Trop By Eliminating Blue Jays From postseason

Mike Zunino hit a two-run homer and Hunter Renfroe added a grand slam as the Tampa Bay Rays jumped on Hyun-Jin Ryu early and cruised to a 8-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays, sweeping the best-of-three Wild Card series two games to none.

The Rays started the scoring in the first, with four hits off Ryu in the inning, including an RBI single by Manuel Margot that gave Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead. But the real damage came in the second, as Kevin Kiermaierled off with a base hit, and Zunino followed with a two-run homer to left.

Ryu struck out Brosseau, but allowed a double to Randy Arozarena, a walk to Yandy Diaz, and an error by Bo Bichette, his second in as many innings, to load the bases for Renfroe, who lined a pitch into the seats in left for the first postseason grand slam in Rays franchise history, ending Ryu's night after just 1 2/3 innings.

Tyler Glasnow allowed a pair of runs, both on solo homers by Danny Jansen, in six innings of work. Aaron Loup, Ryan Thompson, and Nick Anderson combined to get the final nine outs of the game.

The Rays will have a couple of days off before beginning the American League Division Series Monday in San Diego against either the New York Iankees or Cleveland Indians.
