The Tampa Bay Rays have placed their ninth pitcher on the injured list this season, as reliever Nick Anderson was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with inflammation in his right forearm.
Anderson last pitched Wednesday in the Bronx. He said Sunday that he underwent a MRI and that no structural damage was seen, and that he hopes to resume throwing after a couple of additional days being shut down.
To take Anderson's place on the active roster, reliever Edgar Garcia, who was acquired last week from Philadelphia, was recalled from the alternate training site.
In addition, infielder Daniel Robertson, who was designated for assignment when Tampa Bay acquired Garcia, was traded Sunday to the San Francisco Giants for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
