After taking a high school pitcher with their first pick in the 2020 Draft, the Tampa Bay Rays chose another quadrant for their compensation selection Wednesday.
The Rays used the 37th overall pick to take Arizona State shortstop Alika Williams.
Williams hit .333 with four home runs and 53 RBI last year for the Sun Devils. The 21-year-old was rated as the best defensive prospect among college infielders, and was ranked 31st in Baseball America's list of draft-eligible players.
