ST. PETERSBURG (WDAE) -- The Tampa Bay Rays completed the trade that sent outfielder Tommy Pham to the San Diego Thursday, acquiring minor-league infielder Esteban Quiroz from the Padres.
Quiroz, 28, spent 2019 at Triple-A El Paso, hitting .271/.384/.539 with 19 home runs and 66 RBI in 96 games. He was originally signed by the Boston Red Sox in 2018 after seven years in the Mexican League, he was traded to San Diego after the season for pitcher Colton Brewer.
Tampa Bay also received outfielder Hunter Renfroe and minor-league infielder Xavier Edwards from the Padres in echange for Pham and minor-league infielder Jake Cronenworth.
