REPORT: Manfred Expected To Close Down Facilities

The Major League Baseball season could be delayed much longer than expected.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported Monday that commissioner Rob Manfred will hold a conference call this afternoon in which he is expected to shut down all team facilities, with general managers bracing for a delay of the regular season into July.

Major League Baseball shut down operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic Thursday, and pushed back Opening Day a minimum of two weeks. The Tampa Bay Rays last held an informal workout Saturday in Port Charlotte.
