The Major League Baseball season could be delayed much longer than expected.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported Monday that commissioner Rob Manfred will hold a conference call this afternoon in which he is expected to shut down all team facilities, with general managers bracing for a delay of the regular season into July.
Major League Baseball shut down operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic Thursday, and pushed back Opening Day a minimum of two weeks. The Tampa Bay Rays last held an informal workout Saturday in Port Charlotte.
