PORT CHARLOTTE (WDAE) -- Shane McClanahan threw 1 1/3 innings of shutout baseball in his first Graoefruit League start, and Brian O'Grady homered, but Jackie Bradley Jr. drove in a pair later in the game, helping lead the Boston Red Sox to a 3-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
McClanahan reached 100 MPH on the radar gun at Charlotte Sports Park, but allowed a pair of hits and a walk in his outing.
Boston got on the board in the third, as four straight singles from Xander Bogaerts, Michael Chavis, Bradley, and Jonathan Lucroy off Dylan Covey plated a pair of runs, with the latter two driving in the first two.
Chavis and Bradley would hook up again in the fifth, this time off Anthony Banda, to make it 3-0.
Tampa Bay would not get on the board until the eighth, when O'Grady launched a home run on to the board walk beyond the home bullpen, and would get no closer than 3-1.
The Philadelphia Phillies are scheduled to make the drive to Port Charlotte Thursday, with left-hander Brendan McKay on the list to start. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05.
