Glasnow Struggles As Yankees Beat Rays

TAMPA (WDAE) -- Tyler Glasnow allowed five runs while not getting through the fourth inning, as the Tampa Bay Rays dropped a 6-2 decision to the New York Yankees Tuesday at Steinbrenner Field.

The Rays right-hander had trouble with the top of the New York order. He walked Aaron Judge, who scored two batters later on a double by Gary Sanchez. Then in the third, he walked Brett Gardner, who stole second and scored on a single by Judge. Judge then scored on a double by Giancarlo Stanton, and Gary Sanchez drove in Stanton with a two-base hit of his own to make it 4-1.

New York added another run in the fourth as Glasnow issues a walk to Gleyber Torres, who stole both second and third base and scored when Billy Burns singled off Jalen Beeks.

Greg Bird's solo homer off Beeks with one away in the fifth pushed the Yankees lead to 6-1.

Tampa Bay got a run back with two outs in the top of the ninth on a Mac James single off David Sosebee, but the reliever got Dalton Kelly to ground out to end the game.

The Rays will have Wednesday off before a split-squad day Thursday, hosting the Atlanta Braves and traveling to Fort Myers to take on the Red Sox.
